SF Underground Film Festival with Peaches Christ and Sam Sharkey
Apr 20th
After running into The Victoria Theater with a stashed bag of Burger King 20-piece nuggets and grabbing a seat up in the balcony I realized that I hadn’t been to an underground film show in a long time (Spike and Mike’s Sick and Twisted Fest a few years back), and I was pleased to have this one open with Peaches Christ and Sam Sharkey rocking it out on stage together. Peaches was sporting a new Bea Dazzler original that was an homage to KISS, and Sam looked as sexy as he always does, albiet freshly shaven, sans stache which was explained after a viewing of a brief documentary he made shaving it off. The short film fest was followed by more outrageous performances and the world premiere of Devious, Inc. Check out the video below to see Peaches’ and Sam’s performance and highlights of the night courtesy of Mr. Wa.
Here’s a link to the event details if you wanna check out some info on the films presented. I’ve made a list below of my favorites.
Enrique Wrecks the World – Below is a short clip which does not do the carnage of the complete film justice. Let’s just say it’s not for overly-sensitive animal-lovers. I couldn’t stop laughing as the film progressed. This was a great way to open the film fest!
Tales of Mere Existence – Lev Yilmaz presented several of his shorts which feature him filming the actual drawing of his cartoons with his hilarious and insightful musing playing over the audio. Please visit his site and youtube to see his work. You WILL love it.
Sinking State - Beth Lisick & Frazer Bradshaw’s film is a tale of the aftermath of California’s sinking into the ocean with the most bizarre results. There are some great lines in this that you may find worth repeating with friends as an inside joke. Very funny.
Something Special – Brian Benson’s insane story of a shy and hideous, but sweet girl (Cousin Wonderlette) who finds true love amidst her nightmare of a life. I’m pretty sure almost everyone in this is a drag queen. It’s amazing and revolting. I totally loved it, but I’m also in it so I’m a bit biased ;] Below is a pic of Cousin Wonderlette getting a Christmas present a little early from her abusive mama.
